Sue Gamble began serving on the State Board of Education in 2001, representing District 2. Prior to joining the State Board Sue served for 14 years on the Shawnee Mission (USD 512) Board of Education, including terms as vice president and legislative liaison. She also served for 10 years on the Shawnee Mission Northwest Advisory Board.

Mayor Laura McConwell has served as the City of Mission's Mayor since March 6, 2002. Prior to being Mayor, she served as a city council ember. Presently, she is Co-chair of the Johnson County Bioscience Task Force, Co-chair of the Mid-America Regional Council's First Suburbs Coalition, and President of the Kansas Mayors' Association.

Council President Terry Happer Scheier was appointed in 2001 and elected in April 2003 to serve on the City Council. Councilmember Happer Scheier was re-elected in 2007. Council President Happer Scheier has spent her life in Overland Park, and attended Miege High School, Johnson County Community College and the University of Kansas. Her civic involvement has included: Downtown Development Review Board, Chairing the Legacy of Greenery Committee,  Drug and Alcoholism Council of Johnson County, Community Development Block Grant Advisory Committee, Community Oriented Police program,  Overland Park Citizen Police Academy, Leadership Overland Park, Planning Commission, Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA). Councilmember Owens is active in several community organizations.  She provided leadership as president of the Brookridge Estates Homes Association and of the Overland Park Legacy of Greenery Committee and served as vice-chair of the Executive Committee of the Friends of the Arboretum.  She is a member of the Overland Park Rotary Club. She and her husband, Tim, have been residents of Overland Park for more than 30 years. They have two adult sons and three grandchildren. Donna serves as the city's representative on the Mid-America Regional Council Board of Directors, the National League of Cities Steering Committee on Community and Economic Development, and is appointed to the Johnson County Transportation Advisory Council.
